GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6)
A hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue that stimulates GH release through ghrelin receptor activation and also increases appetite via ghrelin-like signaling.
Mechanism of Action
GHRP-6 activates GHS-R1a receptors on the pituitary and hypothalamus, stimulating GH release through both direct pituitary action and hypothalamic GHRH neuron activation. It also stimulates appetite through ghrelin-mimetic activity, increases gastric motility, and has cytoprotective effects on the liver and heart. It elevates cortisol and prolactin more than ipamorelin.
Key Published Studies
Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6 (GHRP-6) Stimulates GH Secretion in Humans
Bowers CY, Reynolds GA, Durham D, et al. — Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (1990)
GHRP-6 produced dose-dependent GH release in humans via IV and subcutaneous routes, with synergistic effects when combined with GHRH.
Cardioprotective Effects of Growth Hormone-Releasing Peptide 6
Berlanga J, Cibrian D, Guevara L, et al. — European Journal of Pharmacology (2007)
GHRP-6 reduced cardiac infarct size and improved ventricular function in ischemia-reperfusion models through PI3K/Akt signaling activation.
Dosage Range
Subcutaneous research doses: 100-300 mcg, 2-3 times daily. Typically administered on an empty stomach.
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. For a 5 mg vial, add 2.5 mL BAC water for 2 mg/mL.
Storage
Store lyophilized at -20C. Reconstituted at 2-8C, use within 21 days.
Half-Life
Approximately 15-60 minutes. GH peak occurs within 30 minutes of administration.
