SS-31 (Elamipretide)
A mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide that concentrates in the inner mitochondrial membrane to protect cardiolipin, reduce ROS, and restore electron transport chain function.
Mechanism of Action
SS-31 (D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2) selectively targets and binds to cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane. Cardiolipin is essential for cristae structure and electron transport chain complex organization. By stabilizing cardiolipin interactions with cytochrome c, SS-31 prevents cytochrome c peroxidase activity, reduces electron leak and ROS generation, and restores ATP synthesis efficiency.

Dosage Range
Research doses: 0.1-5 mg/kg/day in animal models. Clinical trials used 0.25 mg/kg/hr IV infusion or 4-40 mg SC.
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. For a 5 mg vial, add 1 mL BAC water for 5 mg/mL.
Storage
Store lyophilized at -20C. Reconstituted at 2-8C, use within 14 days. Very stable peptide.
Half-Life
Approximately 4 hours after subcutaneous administration.
